Beginning February 2nd, 2010, Jeff Neugebauer will be teaching drawing, painting and perspective.

Mill Valley, Calif. – January 15, 2011 – Jeff Neugebauer, a real, surreal, imaginary kitschpainter, based in Mill Valley, California, will begin teaching art at Room Gallery, San Rafael, CA. The lessons will be 2 1/2 hours long, starting on Wednesday, February 2nd at 6 pm, and continuing each Wednesday thereafter. Anyone interested in joining the class may drop in - the cost is $25 a session or sign up for 5 sessions @ $100.

Location Information:

The Room Gallery
Dates: Ongoing
When: Every Weds, (beginning Feb 2nd, 2011)
Time: From 6-8:30+PM
Address: 1320 Fourth Street, San Rafael, CA
Admission: $25

Class Info...
I’ll be doing my best to teach any aspect of drawing to each participant. Overall, the classes will focus on structured drawing including perspective and rendering. All aspects of formal aesthetics will be covered, including: Line; Shape; Value; Texture; Composition; Concept; etc. Here’s the description for the perspective part...

Understanding Perspective for Artists

Imagine achieving greater spatial and volumetric depth in your paintings and drawings. This course is for artists at all levels who want to learn and/or better understand the principles of perspective - to accurately depict 3 dimensional space on a two dimensional surface. You will discover how fun and easy one and two point perspective can be once you master a few simple rules and concepts.

We'll begin the course with basic line sketches and build upon those skills to create more complex tonal drawings. Working from architecture and still life, you'll learn how to analyze space, formulate a solution, and execute it in a rendered drawing. We will also explore how value, foreshortening and atmosphere impact a drawing's perspective.

About Jeff Neugebauer
Jeff Neugebauer has been drawing and painting since he was a child. He has continued this passion throughout his life. Following the Florentine techniques of the Renaissance, Neugebauer has incorporated the knowledge of the great masters into his painting. His work has gained traction among private collectors and museums including the permanent collection of the Arizona State University Art Museum and the Haarmann Reimer Corporate Museum in West Germany. Prior to painting full-time, Neugebauer pioneered the multi-media technology innovation beginning in 1990. He applied his creativity and artistic talents in conjunction with his knowledge and understanding of technology to produce computer-aided designs, animation, and interactive CD-ROMS. As founder and CEO of SpiralWest, Neugebauer led the company to be one of the first in the multi-media industry to develop Web sites and build brand awareness for high profile companies such as Time Warner, Wells Fargo, Intel and Netscape.

Jeff Neugebauer developed his masterful technique through painstaking study of the Renaissance masters such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, and Caravaggio. Integrating modern, philosophical and often profound concepts with those techniques, Neugebauer’s paintings are similar to the allegorical work by contemporary master Odd Nerdrum. “Ravens Follow Men Into War” is a deeply thought provoking self-portrait by Neugebauer about contemplating the battles we choose in our lives. The painting parallels Nerdrum’s mysteriously intriguing self-portraits.

###
